Why go to Church?
When you hear the Bible being read and taught, you’re hearing your Creator God speaking to you!
This is more than ordinary language; there is also power in the Word of God…“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17) Faith in Jesus gives the certainty of eternal life and prepares us for all we face in this earthly life.
At church we encourage and comfort one another in the difficulties we all experience in life.
Our God also comes to us in a special way in “Sacraments” He has prescribed in the Bible.
“Sacraments” are SACRED ACTS that used earthly elements connected with God’s Word.
BAPTISM and THE LORD’S SUPPER are sacraments that are part of church services at St. Peter’s. In using these, God promises spiritual blessings.
Jesus says “come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matt 11:28). Through the Word and Sacraments, God himself strengthens and preserves us in true faith.
