Who is God?
That is a pretty big question! The answer has ramifications impossible to list. But is it a difficult question?
There are countless religions in the world all claiming knowledge of a god or gods. Rational mankind knows something of God through the world around us. We feel the handiwork of God to some degree in the inner voice of conscience we all have. We have similar ideas of right and wrong, and we instinctively know that there will be a reckoning one day…justice demanded…for each of us. But how to know God and, more importantly, how to appease the wrath He must feel toward the wrongs (sin) we so often fall into?
Of all the so called religions in the world, one stands apart. Where all others believe we must do something to patch things up with our divine creator, the God of the Bible tells us He Himself has redeemed us. Where most would rely upon vague and mystical descriptions of a god or gods, the God of the Bible tells us that he has given us his sure Word that we might know Him and live with Him eternally!
Is it so hard to believe that our creator God wants us to know Him? Is it hard to believe that our heavenly Father loves us and wants to be near us?
Indeed God does want us to know Him and be near Him. This is why it is so important that we learn about Him through the Scriptures He so carefully preserved for us! In the Bible, we have the very Word of God, inerrant and powerful to save.
I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. – Isaiah 42:8
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. – John 20:31
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. – John 17:3
